Description: An afternoon Cleaning and refurbishing the Association apiary equipment.

You will need sweaters and/or rainwear – this work is done out-of-doors whatever the weather – but you will be plied with sustaining hot drinks and stimulated by good banter.

If you are ‘sat-nav savvy’ the post code is: GU31 5AY  If you rely on road numbers etc you want the A272 from Petersfield to Midhurst – about 1 ½ miles going east from the Association Apiary you will find long centralised hatching on the road – cross over to the right IMMEDIATELY at the far end of the hatching where you will find the driveway to your destination.

About the speaker: Gerry, an associate member of PDBKA and a beekeeper for 25 years, has only one regret, that of not starting earlier in life. While still running his engineering business he had 30 hives ‘as a hobby’ but on retirement expanded to 80 colonies, selling the honey through the Hampshire Farmers Market.
He comments that swarms are always interesting, exciting, sometimes disappointing and occasionally painful. But the collecting of them can be very satisfying

About the Speaker:  Andy has been an active member of Southampton BKA for several years. After a 20-year career as a professional horticulturalist and recuperation from a lengthy period of debilitating illness he can now devote time to his hobbies, with beekeeping given priority. He supports his local BKA and looks after one of their two apiary sites.

 He is well-known to us, having given us two excellent talks in recent years, and as a prolific winner of classes in the HBA Honey Show. He is also a successful participant in the National Honey Show.

Andy has a wealth of knowledge, which he willingly shares with others.
